Meet two of Metra's veterans

Derek Mason

Derek L. Mason

Navy Veteran and Manager of Technical Training at Metra

“I served in the United States Navy for 25 years, rising to the rank of E-7. I served as an electrician and a Master Trainer throughout my service, the skills from which I was able to easily transfer to work on the railroad. I currently work as a Manager of Technical Training at Metra and I love my job.”

Jason Clark

Jason Clark

Army Veteran and Safety & Environmental Training Officer at Metra

“I served for eight years in the United States Army and developed a lot of skills that I’m able to bring to Metra, namely public speaking and teamwork. After I left the Army, the next step into work at the railroad felt like an easy transition. There are great benefits and a retirement pension, and the military and railroad both seem to attract people with a similar mindset, bringing with it a sense of familiarity.”
