Metra Alert - Metra Electric District and Union Pacific North Line Extra Service For Chicago Bears Games

Inbound train #394 scheduled to depart Waukegan at 3:00 P.M. will not operate due to a mechanical failure. Inbound train #348 will accommodate passengers to Ogilvie Transportation Center.

Inbound train #348 scheduled to depart Winnetka at 3:31 P.M. will originate at Waukegan due to a mechanical failure on train #394. Please listen to platform announcements for the location of your train.
Metra Alert UP-N - Track Construction through Tuesday, September 24.

 Union Pacific is conducting a tie replacement project on the UP North Line from Chicago to Highland Park. This work is necessary to keep the tracks safe and in compliance. It is being done in off hours from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. so that Metra service is not significantly disrupted, but some midday and evening trains may incur delays of up to 30 minutes passing through the work zone. Please listen to announcements for any platform changes. Residents near the tracks can expect construction noise as the project moves through their area. Below is the schedule for upcoming work:

  • Saturday, September 21 – West Cortland to Diversey Parkway
  • Sunday, September 22 – Diversey Parkway to West Peterson Ave.
  • Monday, September 23 – West Peterson Ave to West Touhy Ave.
  • Tuesday, September 24 – West Touhy Ave to Washington St. (Evanston)

Metra Alert MD-N - Forest Glen Platform Rehabilitation

Beginning Monday, July 8, the south half of the platforms, the south stairways, and the inbound shelter will be closed for rehabilitation for 2 months. Commuters must use the north stairways to access the boarding platforms. 

Once completed, the work will move to the north half of the platforms to complete the project by the end of October. Please allow additional time to access the in-service platforms and exercise caution near the work zones.

UPW - Geneva Station Is ADA Inaccessible
The Geneva station is currently ADA inaccessible. Passengers should utilize La Fox or West Chicago as an alternative. Updates will be provided.
Metra Alert UP-W - Geneva Platform 2 Rehabilitation

On Monday, October 9, the Geneva outbound platform (Platform 2) will be closed for rehabilitation through the end of 2024. Commuters must use the temporary platform located east of Third Street. All trains will board passengers from the rear cars on this platform. Please allow additional time to access the in-service platform and exercise caution near the work zones.

Metra Alert UP-W - River Forest Platform 2 Rehabilitation

Beginning Wednesday, May 8, the east half of Platform 2 (island platform) will be closed for rehabilitation. Once completed, the work will move to the west half of Platform 2 to complete the project by the end of November.

Please allow additional time to access the in-service platform and exercise caution near the work zones.

Tracks #2, and #4, are out of service on the south concourse at Chicago Union Station until further notice due to the Canal St., construction project. BNSF, Southwest Service, and Heritage Corridor passengers should check gate boards prior to boarding their trains. If you need help, please contact Metra personnel for assistance.

Metra Alert HC - Metra to offer Saturday "Rails, Trails and Ales" Excursions on the Heritage Corridor Beginning September 7

Metra will once again be offering special service on the Heritage Corridor Line on six Saturdays this fall, providing opportunities to explore the bike trails, festivals, craft breweries, restaurants, and vibrant communities along this historic route. Full schedules can be found on metra.com.

ME Van Buren Station Elevator Is Out Of Service
The Van Buren Street Station Elevator is out of service. Customers can use South Water or Museum Campus as alternate boarding stations. Updates will be provided.
Harvey Station Elevator Out of Service
The Harvey Station Elevator is out of service. Customers can use Ivanhoe or Hazel Crest as alternate boarding stations. Updates will be provided.
MED Ground level loading
Inbound and Outbound Trains will be boarding from ground level at 111th, 107th, 95th, 91st, 87th, 83rd and 75th St. Please wait on the platform visible to the engineer and follow boarding instructions from the conductor to board your train
ME 57TH West Elevator Out Of Service
The 57th Street West Elevator is out of service. Customers can use 115th Kensington or 51st/53rd Hyde Park as alternate boarding stations. Updates will be provided.
Metra Alert ME - 147th St./Sibley Blvd station closed for reconstruction until fall 2024.

 The 147th street/Sibley Blvd station is closed for reconstruction until fall 2024. During this time, trains will not stop at this station. As alternates, please use the nearby Ivanhoe or Harvey stations. Updates will be provided once  the rehabilitation is complete and the station is accessible. Metra apologizes for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Metra Alert ME - Millennium Station elevator out of service until further notice

The Millennium Station elevator is out of service until further notice.  Customers can use the elevator located at 205 N Michigan, which leads to the South Water entrance to Millennium Station
