Metra today announced it will close the ticket office at the Bensenville Station on Friday, April 15 and reassign the ticket agent position to a higher volume station along the Milwaukee North Line.

Customers who use the Bensenville Station after April 15 will be able to purchase a one-way paper ticket onboard from a conductor at no extra cost.  In addition, customers have a variety of other options for buying tickets.  Those include buying from a ticket agent or vending machine at all five downtown stations and buying tickets online through Metra’s website here.

Metra customers can also buy Metra mobile tickets on their smartphones with the new Ventra App. The free app is available for download at the App Store and Google Play. Quick acceptance of the app by Metra customers resulted in 1 million tickets being bought and used via the app within 60 days of its launch.

Amtrak recently announced plans to permanently close its ticket office at the Glenview Station on the Milwaukee North Line. In addition to its own tickets, Amtrak had also sold Metra tickets at this location, which serves 1,124 weekday morning passengers.  Seeing a need for the continued presence of a ticket agent at this location, Metra analyzed boarding numbers and ticket sales at train stations along both its Milwaukee Line routes. With 294 weekday morning passengers, it was decided to close the Bensenville Station ticket office and reassign the agent to Glenview as of May 9.
