Chief Mechanical Officer
Mr. Clifford has over 43 years of experience in the railroad industry. His firsthand knowledge started in 1980 when he began his career as a trackman for Metra. From there, he went on to hold various positions at Metra such as welder, car cleaner, electrician, mechanical foreman, general foreman, and shop superintendent.
Furthering his career, he progressively climbed the ladder of increasing responsibility in management by being promoted to Director of Mechanical Operations for the Metra Electric District in March 2001, Director of Mechanical Operations for the Milwaukee District in September 2004, Senior Director of Mechanical Operations in March of 2016, and then appointed to his current role of Chief Mechanical Officer in August 2021.
As Chief Mechanical Officer, Mr. Clifford is responsible for all aspects of the Mechanical Department Operations and Capital Projects, which include the maintenance, inspection, repairing, and cleaning of rolling stock; field and shop operations; and various contracts and rehabilitation projects.
