Construction Notices

*Some of the below construction schedules are applied to the "Alternate Schedules" that are currently in effect due to the coronavirus.    The below dates indicate the duration of construction projects, NOT how long Metra intends to keep the alternate schedules in effect.  Please monitor alerts and check our homepage or the Ventra app for service updates.

        To see which trains might be delayed by construction projects, look for the hardhat icon in the schedules for each line. 

 

Metra Electric Line: See below for effective construction dates

September 21, 2020 through March 6, 2022: Weekday and Weekend construction taking place at Homewood for Amtrak station rehab.  Midday trains with the helmet logo displayed underneath may be delayed 10 minutes.

May 1 through May 2: Weekend track maintenance taking place between 27th St. and 65th St. Evening trains with the helmet logo may experience delays up to 10 minutes while passing through the work zone.

May 3 through May 7: Weekday track maintenance taking place between 27th St. and 65th St. Evening trains with the helmet logo may experience delays up to 10 minutes while passing through the work zone. 

Milwaukee District North: See below for effective construction dates

April 12 through May 7: Weekday and weekend construction taking place near Grayland station.  Midday trains with the helmet logo displayed underneath may be delayed 10 minutes.

Milwaukee District West: See below for effective construction dates

March 29 through June 27: Weekday and weekend construction taking place between River Grove and Franklin Park. Midday trains with the helmet logo displayed underneath may be delayed 10 minutes.

Rock Island District: See below for effective construction dates

May 1 through May 2: Weekend construction taking place on the Main Line for a road crossing renewal. Midday trains with the helmet logo displayed underneath may be delayed 5 minutes.

April 26 through May 7: Weekday construction taking place on the Main Line for a road crossing renewal. Midday trains with the helmet logo displayed underneath may be delayed 5 minutes

Union Pacific North: See below for effective construction dates

April 9 through TBD (ONLY train 336): Train 336 may be subject to a delay up to 10 minutes while passing through Main St. to Clybourn until further notice. 

May 1 through May 2: Construction to restore the Waukegan Depot station will begin May 1. Weekend trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may experience delays up to 10 minutes. 

May 3 through May 7: Construction to restore the Waukegan Depot station. Weekday trains with the helmet logos displayed underneath may experience delays up to 10 minutes. 

Union Pacific Northwest: See below for effective construction dates

April 27 through April 30: Weekday track construction taking place between Barrington and Des Plaines. Trains with the helmet logo displayed underneath may be delayed 10 minutes. Please be attentive to any platform changes within the work zone.
